Daniel Peterson is a professor of Islamic studies and Arabic at Brigham Young University, a member of BYUs Foundation for Ancient Research and Mormon Studies (FARMS), and a contributor to both the Foundation for Apologetic Information and Research (FAIR) and the Scholarly & Historical Information Exchange for Latter-day Saints (SHIELDS). He is the author of numerous articles and books on Mormon history and doctrine. Here he discusses church history and the challenges raised against the Book of Mormon; his views on intellectuals, dissent and excommunication; and controversy between Jews and Mormons over the baptism of the dead.
